Varkala is a town in the Indian state of Kerala, about 50km north of Trivandrum and is home of the popular Papanasam Beach. The town is a well-known tourist place and is resplendent with mesmerizing places and monuments . It houses the Janardana Swami Temple which is 2000 years old temple, which is also known as “Dakshin Kashi”. There are numerous water spots and spas on the sides of the rocks and are well known among geologists as Varkala Formation. The setting of this beach is striking enough to take your breath away, with a long winding stretch of cliff and views that extend over the Arabian Sea. A paved footpath runs along the length of the cliff, bordered by coconut palms, quaint shops, beach shacks, hotels, and guest houses.
